Myspace advantages and disadvantages

Myspace is worlds number one social network.Offers email, forum, communities, videos sharing, music, news, games and weblog space.Lots of free things in one place. Now we see
what are the advantages and disadvantages of myspace.

Big Network: If you are looking to meet or find people MySpace is a good place to look. There are lots of people on MySpace so finding people there is easy.

Multimedia: They have music and videos you can add to your site for free.

Advanced Editing: Add all sorts of things to your MySpace profile. Since you can use HTML and JavaScript in your MySpace editor you are open to adding almost anything.

Keep In Touch: With email, blogs, IM, forums, bulletins and groups you can keep in touch with all your friends.
Cons

No Easy Editor: Even though you can find templates online and add the code to your profile there is no way for you to simple create your own unique profile page directly from MySpace itself. The blog offers ways to change the colors, backgrounds and other things but you need to know the codes to enter to do it.

Anyone Can Contact You: There is a privacy setting for your profile but that means no one can see your profile. There is no way to allow people to see your profile but still keep them from emailing your and trying to add you to their friends list. You may get a lot of people trying to add you and if you don't want just anyone sending you messages then this can become a big bother.

Options Are Hard To Find: There are many things you can do on your MySpace profile that are not obvious. Creating a slideshow is one of those things. Adding HTML templates is another. Adding other HTML or JavaScripts is yet another. As you browse MySpace you will see some pretty amazing things on some of the profiles you come across and you will wonder how they are done because MySpace doesn't tell you.

Instead of some disadvantages it is the bigest social setwork of internet .

Benefits of Facebook,advantage of facebook
Facebook is a free, fast, fun and a good way to keep in contact with friends and to meet new people.you can get good benefits for your business.I have listed 10 benefits that you can get for your business by using facebook.

04.Reputation Management - can be a useful tool for seeing what users are saying about you and your brand. In addition your Facebook profile can now be indexed in the search results and as a result can provide another favorable listing in the organic search results of the engines.

07.Client Retention - provides another potential interception point to build the relationship with your consumer.

08.Access to the social world and it’s inherent value - aka the cool factor. You never know who is using Facebook. Consider the following scenario: a potential prospect could be doing research on your brand or organization and may use Facebook to see if you have a presence there. Then they see that you have a Facebook profile and see a number of positive posts about your brand. This in turn can shape their sphere of influence and could end up being one of many deciding factors as to why the prospect selects you over another vendor. The perception that Facebook is "IN" and the fact that you are using Facebook could help influence their perception of your brand. Having said that, there are still may who are anti-Facebook so it could also affect the perception about your brand. The fact remains is that Facebook continues to gain popularity and it is not going away anytime soon.

09.The Viral Effect - Take word Of mouth to a whole new level. Nothing attracts a crowd like a crowd... Facebook is attracting quite a crowd.

10.Feedback Mechanism - Using Facebook and the various applications available can help you understand consumer behavior based on the sharing of content and commentary on the social networking site.

What is facebook and how do you use it?

what is facebook, how to use facebook, learn about facebook,Information about facebook

Facebook is a social network which was founded in 2004, It was created for college students. Now it is available for all age groups. Facebook is most visited and the fastest growing internet community today.

Joining the community is as easy as logging into Facebook.com and filling in a simple online form to register. In common with other social networks, Facebook provides users with the opportunity to create their own profile page.

This usually includes information such as age, marital status, religious beliefs and other personal details. It also includes the user’s network of friends and photograph albums. Communication with friends, family and, often, complete strangers, takes place via message ‘walls’, status updates and an email type message system.

Facebook originally distinguished itself from other networks like MySpace by cutting down on the cluttered webpages and spam which are prevalent in its rivals. This was done chiefly by limiting the user’s ability to change their profile pages and keeping the design format simple and basic.

However, increasing numbers of applications such as games, news updates and the opportunity to rank everything from movies to friends has resulted in crowded profile pages which are more and more difficult to access. Facebook is currently looking at redesigning its format.

Issues of privacy:

One of the problems with a social networking site is that we are inclined to reveal far more of ourselves online than we would in our day to day lives and Facebook is no exception.

Although Facebook does provide users with privacy settings to reduce accessibility to their profiles most neglect to do so. In fact, a number of Facebook users I spoke to were unaware of this function. Privacy settings which allow users to screen the viewers of their personal information should be clearly available and easy to manage.

Revealing photographs, unguarded reminiscences with friends, postings describing last night’s party which might have got somewhat out of hand, all go towards building up a persona which your friends might enjoy but a potential employer might find a little disturbing to say the least. And recruiters are increasingly using social networks such as Facebook to find out more about job applicants.

By going into the profile of a prospective employee, employers are able to do background checks and access sensitive information about the job seeker’s character and interests which they would legally be prevented from enquiring about during a formal interview. Although this is not endorsed by Facebook there is nothing to prevent anyone with an account with them to search other users’ profiles.

Another privacy issue which Facebook was embroiled in recently is the tendency of social websites to share personal information without the users’ consent. Facebook crossed this line with the introduction of its Beacon service which notified all the users’ friends about online purchases made by the user.

Opportunities for entrepreneurs:

Of course, privacy is not an issue for entrepreneurs whose aim in joining Facebook is to disseminate as much information to as wide an audience as possible. As an entrepreneur you can open a business Facebook page as easily as you can set up a personal profile.

This allows you a more flexible layout to create a customized profile which will introduce your product or service to a virtually unlimited audience. Through Facebook you are able to add photographs or videos of your product, include reviews and send updates or news of special offers to your Facebook friends/fans.

In return you will get feedback from your fans who will often share their views with their own friends, quickly building up a network of potential clients for your business.

Should you wish to invest in advertising, social advertisements can be bought, either as cost per click (CPC) where advertisers only pay when a user actually clicks on an advertisement, or cost per impression (CPM). These can be targeted at users according to age, gender, interests or geographical location.

A third way to make your presence felt on Facebook is to develop a Facebook application, or widget, for your business or website. In May 2007 Facebook opened its service to outside developers, inviting them to create applications such as games or tools from which they could profit.

Since then thousands of developers have taken them up on their offer, some reporting high earnings from advertisements which accompany their applications. Since Facebook updates it users on the applications their friends are using, popularity of a site can grow very quickly.

If you have the technical know-how, then, this can be a very inexpensive method of reaching your market, however, using a professional developer can be a much more expensive prospect with costs ranging from $100 to $30000 depending on who you choose and what you want done.

In addition, once your application has been developed you need to find a host which will provide you with enough bandwidth to handle your application should it really take off. Hosting costs are also very variable, running anywhere from $5.00pm for an application with a low user base to over $20000pm if you are reaching millions of users.

Conclusion:

Although there are still some questions about the sustained viability of businesses on Facebook the general expectation seems to be optimistic with some developers believing that the prospect of being able to target their audience will eventually draw the bigger and more traditional advertisers to Facebook.

Certainly the appeal of Facebook as a social networking site continues to grow with millions of enthusiastic users logging on daily.

Sell your adspace with Project Wonderful

sell adspace, rent your adspace, sell adspace with projectwonderfulI have tried a lot of things trying to sell my own adspace. Sure things like Adsense can bring in some cash but sometimes you wish advertisers were bidding on your prime spot, and not just your keywords. Maybe that header banner is worth more than just 10 cents a click. Recently I found a program that lets me set up an auction for my own space, allowing advertisers to bid on getting the spot, with the highest bidder getting his/her ad shown.

Its called Project Wonderful and their website has been taking off in popularity the past few weeks. After signing up for an account and having your site approved, all you have to do is cut and paste a snippit of code into your website.

I have done that here at Top Blogger. If you look in the side bar you will see a box titled Supporters. All I did was add a Text widget ( ? ) in my design tab in Wordpress. Pasted my code in, and now the ad shows up, allowing people to bid on the three ad spots available.

Another interesting aspect of Project Wonderful is that people can place a ad for free until bidders come along and pay actual money. They limit the free ads to two days, and this allows people to test out your site and see what results they may get from their particular ad. This is a great way to gain new advertisers, and not just waste the space with a YOUR AD HERE type of thing.

They take a 25% cut, but also don’t charge you any fees otherwise for withdraws or deposits.

If you are interested in trying it out and seeing how it all works, feel free to place a free ad here on Top Blogger (at least for now while you still can). If you like what you see, and feel like your potential advertisers might also sign up at projectwonderful

I haven’t had any results yet, but I am watching this new program closely, and may start using them more often. I will update soon .
